Do you have at least one child aged 0-5? Would you enjoy a free week of family fun? Join First Teacher, BPS's Countdown to Kindergarten and the Boston Children's Museum at our third annual Family Play Week!
Family Play Week is a week-long family day camp. It’s an opportunity to get to know other families in the Roxbury community while having fun with our children. During Family Play Week, families participate in engaging workshops as we learn and share with one another. Through collaboration with partners, Family Play Week families are able to visit places where we can stimulate our children’s curiosity and have enough time to play.
Imagine … the main role and responsibility of adults during this time is to have fun, explore the power of play with our family and meet new friends!
The daily and weekly schedule for Family Play Week is created with authentic family time in mind. There is time built into each day for opening and closing circle, loosely structured play time, outdoor play time, and transitions. These are some of the few things that will help prepare our children for Kindergarten. Parents/caregivers, we promise you will not be bored! Family Play week is planned and facilitated to ensure both adults and children have time to build relationships and share knowledge.
What past Family Play Week families have said about the week:
“These pictures represent quality time with my children. Also, Family Play Week gives them the opportunity to meet new cultures, to learn that there are no barriers. Although we are from different places and languages, we can go past that and become one great family.” - FPW participant (Translated from Spanish)
“Rewarding experience, I think, for Amir as well as me. It was nice to have such a friendly community, not just with Amir and myself, but with each other. I appreciate that, it is good to know there are caring friends all around. This is a good segue for Amir and preschool.” (FPW participant)
Family Play Week has two sessions. The first session will be: Monday, July 9 - Friday, July 13, 2018 . The second session will be: Monday, July 16 - Friday July 20, 2018.
